Your session / what to expect

If you haven't had much experience with massage or skin therapy services, you might be wondering what to expect.  The following provides a simple and easy explanation of what to expect during your session at Massage Retreat & Spa.

First, Massage Retreat & Spa’s licensed, certified massage and skin therapy therapists service a wide variety of massage and skin therapy clients.  Each massage therapist has been trained in a variety of techniques and is required to attend additional training provided by Massage Retreat University.  Massage Retreat & Spa provides first class customer service and listens to it's customers requests or concerns every time you visit.

If this is your first visit to Massage Retreat & Spa, please arrive 15 minutes early to fill out a confidential health questionnaire and customer profile that will allow our staff to provide you with the service and results you are seeking.  After reviewing the provided information, the therapist may ask you some questions such as: reasons you are getting a massage or facial, if you have specific areas of pain and areas that you want addressed during the massage or facial session.

Following the discussion of your needs and desires, the Massage Retreat & Spa therapist will instruct you on how to lay on the table and any additional instructions, prior to leaving the room, to provide privacy while you disrobe.  At this time you should remove all jewelry and other articles that may interfere with your session. We suggest you take off as much clothing as you feel comfortable removing.  After disrobing, you will lay flat on the massage table covering yourself with the sheet provided.  The sheet is provided for draping over your body during the massage.  The therapist will uncover only the part of the body being massaged, insuring that modesty is respected at all times.  The draping also keeps the client warm during the session.  Please request additional coverage if you tend to be cold natured.

Your massage or skin therapy service takes place in a private comfortable room on a professional padded table.  The massage table will have a face rest which allows you to lie in a face down position without turning your head or neck.  The skin therapy table has a back support that allows the therapist to perform services for the customer in a relaxing position.  Expect a peaceful, calming and comfortable environment for your session.  Light relaxing music will be played and the lights will be dimmed during the session.  If you wish a completely quiet environment just ask your therapist to turn off the music.

The key to achieving your goals during a session is communication.  Let your therapist know if you are in need of general relaxation, stress reduction or therapy in specific areas that need attention.  It is possible during a massage session for a therapist to spend most of an entire session in only one area of your body if needed or requested.

If there is anything that does not feel comfortable, right or you just don’t like, please ask your therapist to stop.  Throughout the session your Massage Retreat & Spa therapist will ask you about the level of pressure you may be feeling and you should communicate the level in which feels comfortable, asking for more or less.

Upon completion of your session, your therapist will leave the room for your privacy in order for you to get dressed, gather your belongings and if the therapist met your satisfaction we recommend a tip of 15% of your service fee to be left in the gratuity envelope provided or on your Massage Retreat & Spa account.  We are committed to exceeding your expectations.  We hope you schedule your next session prior to leaving.  Your therapist along with our front desk staff will answer any questions you have regarding services and membership options.  Most Massage Retreat & Spa's one hour sessions include 50 minutes of hands on therapy and 10 minutes of consultation and preparation for the scheduled hour.

Best Experience. Best Results.
